Pilates Schools & Training
Pilates instructors teach either groups or individuals. The most sought-after instructors have a certificate from the Pilates Method Alliance – the Certified Pilates Teacher certificate (CPT). The Alliance was established in 2001, and the certificate rolled out in 2005. The CPT requires the completion of 720 hours employed as a teacher or 450 hours in a registered training program, followed by an examination administered by a qualified PMA representative and 16 hours of continuing education instruction over two years.
As the practice grows in popularity, more and more employers are making the PMA certificate a requirement.
